Photography, video, documentation Berlin, Germany Thikwa Werkstatt für Theater und Kunst is an art workshop for the professionalization of artists with intellectual disabilities located in Berlin. Thikwa is neither a school nor a leisure space for artistic creation. Thikwa is a center where artists with and without intellectual disabilities work professionally on different individual and collective projects in the visual and performing arts. It is a kind of Bauhaus where its artists work 35 hours a week on creation within the visual arts, music, dance, drama or sport. Outsider Art is a term that describes art created outside the limits of official culture,&nbsp;art market, artistic currents or Academia. It is a term normally used to refer to, among other groups, artists with disabilities, chronic illnesses, deaf and neurodiverse cultural workers. Outsider artists work creating unprecedented themes and deconstructing technical processes. The Thikwa artists are present at exhibitions in renowned museums, galleries and other exhibition spaces around Europe. However, for some of the Thikwa artists it is difficult to apply for grants, awards or art residencies through open calls due to the non-inclusive format of such applications, usually characterized by a statement, a dossier and a curriculum vitae, sometimes very difficult to fill in for people with intellectual disabilities. &nbsp; This is the reason of OUTSIDERS. Through videoportraits, Thikwa artists can show their work and explain it in front of a camera at the art studio or by visiting places that inspire them or have influenced their work. Through photographs they can present themselves. Conny's work has been shown in exhibition spaces such as Kommunale Galerien, Gallery Good, Kunsthaus Kannen or Galerie Art Cru among others and has received nominations and awards such as 22.Bundeskunstpreis für Menschen mit Behinderung or the Lothar Späth Förderpreis. Conny's work is characterized by the seriality and repetition of motifs, which Conny captures over and over again, always with small compositional changes. She is currently involved in a large project in which she portrays her great idol Bad Spencer in many different facets, sometimes accompanied by Terence Hill. For this project she is using acrylic paint on canvas, with a predominance of terracotta tones, in formats from 40x40 cms to 80x80 cm. Cornelia Glowniewski / Artworks Deniz Dogan (1992 Berlin) is a Berlin-based visual artist and performer who has been working at THIKWA Werkstatt für Theater und Kunst since 2016. Influenced by the stores that are part of her weekly shopping, Deniz started some time ago an artistic series that is now characterized by motifs and logos of large commercial chains such as Aldi, Edeka, McDonald's, Zara, among others, which she usually represents through bas-reliefs in glazed ceramics. Deniz has shown his work at Gallery Good in Berlin, Kunsthaus Kannen or Galerie Kulturhaus Spandau among others. She also collaborates frequently as a cultural mediator with the Berlin State Museums or INARTdis Project where she gives workshops and guides art projects. Aimaro Isola In the spring of 2020, during a tough lockdown and widespread border closures, I set out to escape the city without leaving it, exploring different worlds and enjoying fabulous travels without having to cross the world. The Berlin Archipelago shows a hidden side of the German capital, on the outskirts of the big city: 70 natural, artificial and even floating islands emerging between rivers and lakes, surrounded by thick forests and where the cement has not yet arrived. This context attracts Berliners looking to get away for a day from the hectic routine of the big city, but there are also those who have made it their way of life by settling on small pieces of land, voluntarily isolated, surrounded by water. Today there are many facilities when it comes to crossing borders and starting a new life. Some emigrate of their own free will but others are forced to do so for a variety of reasons. In my case I moved abroad years ago due to the impossibility of finding a job in Spain, but I missed my homeland and my family, so I came back whenever I could. I had the impression that when I returned to Spain, my perspective was that of an emigrant who has missed some of the things that have happened there and, when I returned, it was easier to surprise me with little things. When I returned I had also the feeling of reliving the summer of my childhood; we went to the village, took long walks by the river, had vermouth with friends before lunch, took care of the house and had a late dinner on the terrace. 0034 (Interantional spanish calling code) is a photography and Super-8 film project that I carried out every time I returned to Spain when I lived abroad. Walking along the seashore, we found a secluded beach with towering dunes and crystal clear water; my mother stayed there with my things and I kept on walking towards Espalmador. From a distance, I saw black rocks with wide white hollows, making a very striking contrast. From the water and the waves, a layer of salt the thickness of my finger had formed. S. It portrays the lives of spaniards who decided to search a new life outside of Spain. The program gives an overly optimistic image of life outside of Spain, portraying almost exclusively spaniards who are living a very comfortable and successful life. This show, although seemingly irrelevant, affects the new Spanish immigrants who, with an unemployment rate of 27% in Spain, decide to seek a new life motivated by the apparent opportunities sold on television. When these "new" Spanish immigrants arrive at their destination, usually in cities in northern Europe, without knowing the language or even basic English, most of them realize that "El Dorado" does not exist and Norway is not the panacea. Many spaniards return to Spain, others live in shelters or on the street. Some of them find work.In Spanish the word "parados“ means both "stopped" and "unemployed". Parados en el Mundo is a collection of 10 videos, each 1 minute long, portraying 10 Spanish people looking for new job opportunities in central and northern Europe.
